The vineyards of southeastern France include the southern part of the Rhone Valley (Vallée du Rhône Meridionale), including the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and Provence, where French vineyards started 2,600 years ago.

| Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2005 |
| 100 Points Wine Spectator
Wine Spectator This is breathtaking. Black in color, with incredible aromas of crushed blackberry, mineral, licorice and lead pencil. Full-bodied, with a mind-blowing texture of seamless tannins that coat every millimeter of the palate. Goes on and on, with licorice, currant and flowers. Time will tell if it's better than the 2000. Best after 2017.
98 Points Robert Parker
Another titanic effort from the Delon family, the 2005 Leoville Las Cases is probably the greatest wine made at this estate since Jean-Hubert Delon’s father produced the 1986 and 1996. Only 37% of the production made it into the 2005, a blend of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with less than 13% Merlot and Cabernet Franc. An inky/ruby/purple color is accompanied by reticent aromatics that, with considerable coaxing, offer up subtle notes of toasty vanillin intermixed with lead pencil shavings, wet rocks, and enormously ripe, intense black cherry and creme de cassis. The wine hits the palate with a full-bodied, layered mouthfeel as well as enormous extract, concentration, and purity. This ageless, monumental claret requires a minimum of 15-20 years to approach maturity, and should last for a half century. It is about as classic a Leoville Las Cases as one will find. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2060
A Second Growth since the classification of 1855. Leoville Las Cases not only deserves this status, it is thought by many critics and collectors to be of First Growth quality. |

A deep purple color with garnet reflects. A rich and intense nose expressing myrtle, wild berries, chocolat and liquorice notes. Attacking vividly with vanilla notes, it is a generous wine and it shows a great capacity of aging.
A wine to accompany lamb meat, game or a provençal stew. |

| Chateau Vignot Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2004 |
| A nice Bordeaux, very approachable now, a New World style wine.
91 points Wine Enthusiast
winemaker's notes:
Blend: 68% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon
The vines that "make" Château Vignot are located in the foothills of which the vineyard rests. The Château Vignot wine is aromatic, round and mature. It melts in the mouth with a long finish. This wine is very rich and complex with a charming character. Deep in color, rich and dark. Well structured nose of currants and licorice. Round explosion in the mouth with harmonious spice, almonds and peach over red fruits. Soft tannins, long finish of spice. |
